Shopify discount problems, and how to solve them
Each page takes one concrete case: what Shopify does natively, where it stops, and how you set it up with Hand-E Discounts. With a worked example.
Multiple quantity breaks don't fit in one discount
In Shopify's discount form you pick one minimum purchase requirement with one value, which means one threshold per discount. For 10% off 5 or more items and 15% off 10 or more, you need two separate automatic discounts natively, or an app that keeps every tier in one discount.

Shopify gives an order discount one minimum purchase amount, which means one tier. Natively you build several tiers as separate automatic discounts, and Shopify applies the one with the bigger advantage. Or you set up one Cart value tiers discount in Hand-E Discounts.
Read moreThe free gift doesn't land in the cart by itself
Shopify's Buy X get Y discount makes a gift free, but according to the help center it never adds it to the cart itself. Hand-E Discounts adds the gift through a theme app embed once the cart value is reached and removes it again when the value drops below.
Read moreProducts should be cheaper together, without a bundle product
Shopify Bundles creates a bundle as its own product, and Buy X get Y knows one condition and one discounted group. Hand-E Discounts discounts your regular products as soon as every group of a bundle is filled in the cart, with a separate discount per group.
Read moreHundreds of unique discount codes are needed
One Shopify discount can carry many codes, and up to 20 million unique codes are allowed per store. Hand-E Discounts generates up to 200 codes per campaign on the Starter plan or 1,000 on the Pro plan with your own prefix, creates them as one Shopify discount and gives you a CSV file.
Read moreQuantity discount counts the wrong items together
A native Shopify discount with a minimum quantity of items counts the eligible items together. If each product should count for itself, with its variants added up, you need one native discount per product or volume tiers with a counting mode you can choose.
Read moreThe discount is set up but does not apply at checkout
When a Shopify discount does not apply, start with its own conditions and with Shopify's rules for how discounts interact: combinations, minimum purchase requirements, customer eligibility, active dates, and the limit of 25 active automatic discounts. Walk through the points in order, then check the result with a test order.
Read moreDiscount scripts stopped running in June 2026
Since June 30, 2026, Shopify no longer runs Scripts, and Scripts that were still published have been deactivated. Discounts that a line item script used to calculate run through Shopify Functions today, for example out of a public app that stores on every plan are allowed to use.
Read moreBusiness customers need other price breaks than shoppers
Shopify's B2B volume pricing gives business customers fixed unit prices above a quantity, counted per variant, and according to the changelog it runs on Basic, Grow and Advanced since April 2026. Volume tiers from Hand-E Discounts work in percentages or fixed amounts for shoppers in your online store and can count variants together.
Read moreCreating discounts takes too many clicks
On the Pro plan of Hand-E Discounts you describe a discount in one sentence. The AI assistant looks up the matching products and collections, suggests the complete discount, and creates it after your click, inactive until you remove the end date in the admin.
