Tiered pricing calculator for Shopify

Rounded down like Shopify's checkout: 5% of this price is $1.2475 on paper, $1.24 per item is what customers get.
How the calculator works
It uses the same math we measured in a real Shopify checkout for the cart preview in Hand-E AI Discounts.
- Discount per item, rounded down to the cent. Shopify calculates a percentage discount per item and cuts off the rest instead of rounding: 10% off $24.95 is $2.49, not $2.50. If you calculate with $2.50, you are off by $1.00 at 100 items.
- The tier applies to every item. Someone buying 10 items gets the 10+ tier on all ten, not the small tier on the first few and the big one on the rest. That is how Shopify's minimum quantity and the app's Volume tiers both work.
- Margin per item is the price after discount minus your cost. For a real margin, enter both prices without sales tax. Shipping, payment fees and returns are not part of the calculation.
- Extra items to break even means: this many more items have to sell at this tier to earn the same gross profit as without the discount. The formula is discount per item divided by margin after discount, rounded up. With a $24.95 price, $12.00 cost and 10% off, the margin drops from $12.95 to $10.46, and you need 24% more items.
- Nothing leaves your browser. The calculator runs entirely on this page. Your numbers are neither stored nor sent anywhere.
Setting up the tiers in Shopify
Shopify on its own knows one minimum quantity per discount, which means one tier. For three tiers you create three automatic discounts natively. How that works and where it gets tricky is in the guide Shopify tiered pricing.

In Shopify's discount form you pick one minimum purchase requirement with one value, which means one threshold per discount. For 10% off 5 or more items and 15% off 10 or more, you need two separate automatic discounts natively, or an app that keeps every tier in one discount.
